Households with Access to Safe Drinking Water 2024, Top Jakarta

According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 92.64% of households in Indonesia had access to safe drinking water in 2024. This proportion increased from 91.72% in 2023.

Based on the concept of safe drinking water according to the National Development Planning Ministry/Bappenas Letter Number 661/Dt.2.4/01/2019, households are categorized as having access to safe drinking water if their water source comes from piped water, protected water, and rainwater.

Protected water includes boreholes/pumps, protected wells, and protected springs.

In 2024, DKI Jakarta had the highest national access to safe drinking water sources, reaching 99.96%.

Meanwhile, the province with the lowest access to safe drinking water was Papua Pegunungan, at only 30.64%. This was followed by South Papua at 71.9% and Bengkulu at 72.1%.
