According to a Populix survey, 67% of Indonesian respondents feel hindered from exercising due to time constraints.
"This indicates that although many people are interested in exercising, limited time often presents a difficult obstacle," Populix wrote on its official Instagram account on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Other obstacles include high costs (39%), lack of exercise partners (33%), and limited sports facilities (29%).
Respondents were also hindered by low motivation (29%), and limited knowledge or skills in exercising (26%).
The survey also identified factors respondents considered when choosing a type of exercise.
The majority preferred exercises that are easy to do (65%). Others chose exercises that are enjoyable (50%), affordable (46%), allow for socialization (40%), or because they were invited by friends or family (30%).
Populix conducted this online survey from November 13-15, 2024, with 1,030 respondents, later narrowed down to 526 respondents who reported obstacles to exercising.
The majority of respondents were from Java (74%), followed by Sumatra (15%), and other islands (11%). Respondents were predominantly aged 17-25 years (39%) and 26-30 years (24%).
