According to a JakPat survey, 61% of respondents chose to consume plant-based milk.
Of this group, the majority chose plant-based milk due to its taste and nutritional content, with 38% of respondents citing each reason.
"More specifically, Generation X tends to prefer plant-based milk because it is considered more environmentally friendly than cow's milk," JakPat wrote in its report titled *Consumer Perspectives on Dairy Products and Alternatives*.
Furthermore, 31% of respondents chose plant-based milk consumption because it is more environmentally friendly, 28% due to food variety, and 27% considered it cheaper than animal milk.
This survey also summarized the types of plant-based milk most consumed by respondents. Soy milk led with 86%.
This was followed by almond milk at 48%, oat milk at 42%, coconut milk at 33%, and cashew milk at 27%.
The JakPat survey involved 1,238 respondents, narrowed down to 760 respondents who reported consuming plant-based milk.
The majority of respondents were located on the island of Java (46%), around Jakarta (37%), and outside Java (17%). Respondents were dominated by millennials at 44%, Generation Z at 39%, and Generation X at 16%.
The survey was conducted online through the JakPat application, collected on September 6-7, 2024, with a margin of error below 5%.
