The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the hotel occupancy rate (HOR) for star-rated hotels in Indonesia reached 25.07% in August 2021. This figure increased by 2.69 points compared to the previous month, which was 22.38%.
Compared to the same period last year, the HOR for star-rated hotels decreased by 7.86 points. In August 2020, the HOR for star-rated hotels was recorded at 32.93%.
According to their classification, all HORs for star-rated hotels in August 2021 experienced a monthly increase. The highest increase was experienced by two-star hotels, at 3.86 points, from 25.45% to 29.31%.
Four-star hotels experienced an increase of 3.47 points, from 19.55% to 23.02%. The HOR for three-star hotels increased by 2.40 points month-on-month, from 25.88% to 28.28%.
Then, the HOR for one-star hotels increased by 1.67 points month-on-month, from 16.99% to 18.66%. Meanwhile, the HOR for five-star hotels increased by 0.27%, from 18.13% to 18.40%.
Conversely, all HORs for star-rated hotels in August 2021 experienced a year-on-year decrease. Four-star hotels experienced the highest decrease of 34.15 points, from 53.67% to 23.02%. (Note: There's a discrepancy in the original text; the 53.67% figure is likely a typo and should be 19.55% based on the previous data.)
Five-star hotels experienced a decrease in HOR of 9.15 points, from 27.55% to 18.40%. The HOR for three-star hotels decreased by 6.01 points, from 34.29% to 28.28%.
The HOR for one-star hotels decreased by 5.44 points, from 24.10% to 18.66%. Meanwhile, the HOR for two-star hotels decreased by 3.71 points, from 33.02% to 29.31%.
By province, the highest monthly increase in HOR occurred in North Maluku, at 21.26 points. This was followed by Banten and Lampung, at 9.72 points and 8.11 points respectively.
The highest monthly decrease in HOR was in North Sulawesi, at 6.09 points. Then, the HOR in North Sumatra and Aceh decreased by 2.44 points and 1.47 points respectively.
Meanwhile, the highest year-on-year increase in HOR was in North Maluku, at 33.81 points. The highest year-on-year decrease in HOR was in Yogyakarta, at 18.95 points.
