Bengkulu had the cleanest air quality in Indonesia last night. According to the air quality index from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Bengkulu scored 7 on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 9 PM WIB.
At that time, Bengkulu's air quality was categorized as "good," meaning pollutant levels were very minimal. Balikpapan was second with an air quality index of 36, followed by Serang in third place with an index of 39.
Below is a complete list of the 10 cities with the cleanest air quality in Indonesia according to KLHK on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 9 PM WIB:

2. Balikpapan (East Kalimantan): 36
3. Serang (Banten): 39
4. Tanjung Pinang (Riau Islands): 42
5. Palembang (South Sumatra): 43
6. Malang (East Java): 46
7. Banda Aceh (Aceh): 50

While these cities had the cleanest air quality nationally, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK classifies air quality index as follows:

* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
Therefore, on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 9 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Bengkulu, Balikpapan, Serang, Tanjung Pinang, Palembang, Malang, and Banda Aceh. The other three cities, Solo, Yogyakarta, and Banjar Baru, had moderate air quality.
