At that time, Palu's air quality was categorized as "good," meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Ambon was second with an air quality index of 38, followed by Mamuju in third place with an index of 40.
Below is a complete list of the 10 cities with the cleanest air quality in Indonesia according to KLHK on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at 3:00 PM WIB:
1. Palu (Central Sulawesi): 35
2. Ambon (Maluku): 38
3. Mamuju (West Sulawesi): 40
4. Banda Aceh (Aceh): 46
5. Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi): 48

7. Manokwari (West Papua): 50
8. Tanjung Jabung Timur (Jambi): 51

While these cities had the cleanest air quality nationally, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK classifies air quality index as follows:

* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
Therefore, on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at 3:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Palu, Ambon, Mamuju, Banda Aceh, Kendari, Siak, and Manokwari. The other three cities, Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jayapura, and Indragiri Hilir, had moderate air quality.
