Based on the 2023 Green City Metric compiled by the University of Indonesia (UI) team, Kediri is the most sustainable city nationally.
The UI Green City Metric measures a city's sustainability level based on six major indicators: spatial planning and infrastructure; energy and climate change; waste and waste management; water governance; access and mobility; and governance.
As a result, Kediri City obtained a total score of 7.015 points, the highest among the 58 cities/regencies researched.
Of the 10 cities with the highest scores, the majority, or 6 cities, are located in East Java.
