This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a reversal from the previous period where death tolls continued to rise. This week, 10 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 23 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage increase, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths were Finland, Slovakia, Sweden, the UK, and Estonia. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, September 10, 2022, was 613, with weekly growth exceeding 50 percent.
Finland ranked first, with a 200 percent increase in weekly deaths. Worldometer recorded three deaths in the country, a 25 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Slovakia followed with a weekly growth in deaths of 85.71 percent. Daily death figures in the country increased by 18.18% compared to the previous day, which recorded 22 deaths.
Furthermore, deaths in Sweden increased by 80%, deaths in the UK increased by 63.27%, and deaths in Estonia increased by 50%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Russia, with 633 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 1.77% compared to the previous week. Following Russia, the UK reported the highest number of deaths with 560 (up 63.27%), followed by Germany with 537 deaths (down 18.39%), Italy with 403 deaths (down 23.67%), and Spain with 326 deaths (down 6.86%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days were recorded at 3,584. This accounts for 31.42 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 11,405. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,868.
