In Malaka Regency in 2023, per capita weekly expenditure on glutinous rice was Rp53.91. This represents a decrease compared to the previous year's expenditure of Rp243.71 per capita per week.

The five largest components of Malaka Regency residents' expenditure on cereals, ranked from highest to lowest, were: superior quality rice (Rp26,680 per capita per week), shelled corn/corn rice/corn grits (Rp1,076.15 per capita per week), corn in the husk (Rp858.05 per capita per week), wheat flour (Rp72.09 per capita per week), and glutinous rice (Rp53.91 per capita per week) as the lowest.

Per capita average expenditure refers to the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to others.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The per capita average consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and non-food items) by the total population.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average per capita expenditure in Malaka Regency reached Rp1.07 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 39.86% compared to March 2022, which was Rp764,490 per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest per capita expenditure on glutinous rice was in Puncak Jaya Regency, and the lowest was in Sampang Regency. Malaka Regency ranked 277th in terms of glutinous rice expenditure. The national average per capita expenditure on glutinous rice is Rp247 per capita per week.
