Sendang Kucing Beach was the most visited tourist attraction in Kendal Regency in 2020. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), 33,801 people visited the attraction in 2020. The Kendal Regency government earned Rp 201.64 million in revenue from this tourist site throughout last year.
Curug Sewu Waterfall was also a popular destination, with a total of 33,302 visitors and generating Rp 224.3 million in revenue last year. Other popular locations included Tirto Arum tourist site with 15,858 visitors and Boja Swimming Pool with 13,006 visitors in 2020.
A total of 95,965 people visited these four tourist attractions in Kendal Regency last year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, tourist visits to Kendal Regency plummeted by 91.27%, reaching only 109,160 visitors in 2020 compared to 1.25 million visitors the previous year.
The implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and the closure of tourist attractions to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus caused a drastic drop in tourist visits last year.
