This week, five countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 23 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Slovakia, Estonia, Germany, Russia, and Portugal. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Wednesday, September 7, 2022, was 1,277, with a weekly growth rate exceeding 6.98 percent.
Slovakia ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths of 81.82 percent. Worldometer recorded 20 deaths in the country, a 25 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Estonia follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country increased by 50 percent, with a total of six deaths reported. Daily statistics show a 50% increase in deaths compared to the previous day's four deaths.
Next, deaths in Germany increased by 35.45%, Russia recorded 628 deaths (up 10.56%), and Portugal recorded 46 deaths (up 6.98%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days occurred in Russia, with 628 deaths—a 10.56% increase compared to the previous week. Germany follows with 577 deaths (up 35.45%), Italy recorded 447 deaths (down 22.13%), Spain recorded 323 deaths (down 8.76%), and France recorded 294 deaths (down 11.98%).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 3,336. This accounts for 29.82 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 11,188. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,555 deaths.
