Coughing and sneezing: the most common symptoms experienced by the public when inhaling air.

High air pollution in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area has caused many residents to experience symptoms of illness from inhaling air, even if they are not already sick. According to a survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), the majority, or 44.6% of respondents, experienced symptoms of coughing and sneezing when inhaling the air.

Furthermore, 44.3% of respondents reported experiencing headaches/dizziness. Another 42% experienced irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin.

In addition, 34.8% of respondents reported experiencing fatigue. Then, 25.9% experienced skin irritation, such as acne, pimples, and so on.

Next, 19.7% experienced shortness of breath. Respondents experiencing nasal drip or phlegm totaled 10.4%, hypersensitivity and allergies 7.7%, nausea 7.3%, and sinusitis 5.6%. Meanwhile, 9.7% of respondents did not experience any symptoms.

The survey, titled 'Air Quality in the View of Jabodetabek Residents', was conducted among 1,570 respondents in Jabodetabek from August 23-29, 2021. The survey was conducted online among respondents over 17 years old who have internet access.
