In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are the United States, Chile, Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico. The total deaths in these five countries as of Friday, March 24, 2023, were 1,427, with a weekly growth rate above -23.85 percent.
The United States recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in the Americas, with weekly growth reaching 26.3 percent. Worldometer recorded 1,186 deaths in the country, a 30.33 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Chile followed with a weekly growth in deaths of 12.5 percent. Daily death figures in the country increased by 8.43% compared to the previous day, totaling 83 deaths.
Next, Guatemala reported one death (unchanged from the previous period), Peru saw a 10.67% decrease in deaths, and Mexico a 23.85% decrease.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the past seven days in the Americas occurred in the United States, with 1,186 deaths. Death reports in the country increased by 26.3% compared to the previous week. Following with the highest number is Chile with 90 deaths (up 12.5%), Mexico recorded 83 deaths (down 23.85%), Peru with 67 deaths (down 10.67%), and Guatemala with one death (unchanged from the previous period).
Total deaths in the Americas over the past seven days were 1,427. This accounts for 43.32 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 3,294. The number of deaths in the Americas increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,204 deaths.
