Reading the Internet Usage Behavior of Indonesian Citizens as a Result of Covid-19: Have There Been Changes?

The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) conducted research to observe internet usage behavior among Indonesians before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The research is presented in the *2023 Internet Penetration and Behavior Survey*.

The results show that 52.66% of respondents reported that their internet usage behavior remained largely the same before and after the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 19.58% of respondents reported a decrease in their internet usage of 1-5 hours compared to during the pandemic. This was followed by 14.31% of respondents who reported an increase in internet usage of 1-5 hours compared to during the pandemic.

Furthermore, 5.53% of respondents reported an increase in internet usage of more than 5 hours compared to during the pandemic. And 7.92% of respondents reported a decrease in internet usage of more than 5 hours.

APJII also found that 63.74% of respondents use the internet for 1-5 hours per day. The devices used to access the internet were predominantly mobile phones or tablets, accounting for 99.51%.

This survey involved 8,510 respondents spread across various provinces throughout Indonesia, selected using a multi-stage random sampling technique.

Data was collected from January 10-27, 2023, using interviews and questionnaires. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 1.14% with a 95% confidence level.
