The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a hotel occupancy rate (HOR) of 22.38% for star-rated hotels in Indonesia in July 2021. This figure is down 16.17 percentage points compared to the previous month, which stood at 38.55%.
A decrease of 5.69 percentage points was also observed compared to the same period last year. In July 2020, the HOR for star-rated hotels in Indonesia was recorded at 28.07%.
The HOR for star-rated hotels in July 2021 decreased across all classifications. The highest monthly decline was experienced by five-star hotels, dropping 22.36 percentage points from 40.49% to 18.13%.
Four-star hotels experienced a monthly HOR decrease of 19.31 percentage points, from 38.86% to 19.55%. Three-star hotels saw a monthly decrease of 12.91 percentage points, from 38.79% to 25.88%.
Furthermore, the HOR for two-star hotels decreased by 14.49 percentage points month-on-month, from 39.94% to 25.45%. Meanwhile, the HOR for one-star hotels fell by 6.32 percentage points month-on-month, from 23.31% to 16.99%.
Year-on-year, four-star hotels experienced the highest decrease of 8.61 percentage points, from 28.16% to 19.55%. One-star hotels saw a decrease in HOR of 6.78 percentage points, from 23.77% to 16.99%.
Two-star hotels experienced a year-on-year decrease of 5.41 percentage points, from 30.86% to 25.45%. Five-star hotels saw a year-on-year decrease of 5.15 percentage points, from 23.28% to 18.13%. Meanwhile, three-star hotels decreased by 2.73 percentage points year-on-year, from 28.61% to 25.88%.
BPS also recorded a monthly decrease in the HOR for star-rated hotels in almost all provinces. A monthly increase in the HOR for star-rated hotels only occurred in Riau, increasing by 1.02 percentage points from 33.4% to 34.42%.
