Jakarta, DKI is the most polluted city in Indonesia this evening (Saturday, December 2nd, 2023)

Air quality in DKI Jakarta this afternoon is the worst in Indonesia. Based on the Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU) page of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) on Saturday (2/12/2023) at 16.00 WIB, the air quality index in DKI Jakarta is revealed to be 102.

According to the Directorate of Air Pollution Control of KLHK, ISPU is a dimensionless number used to describe the ambient air quality condition at a specific location and is based on the impact on human health, aesthetics, and other living things.

The ISPU calculation is based on measurements of seven air pollutant parameters: PM10, PM2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, and HC. Measurements of air pollutant parameters are spread across 72 stations in various regions.

Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, an ISPU in the range of 0-50 indicates good air quality, 51-100 indicates moderate air quality, and 101-200 indicates unhealthy air quality that is harmful to humans, animals, and plants.

Next, very unhealthy air quality in the range of 201-300 can increase health risks in sensitive groups. Meanwhile, hazardous air quality in the range of over 300 can seriously harm health and requires immediate action.

Below DKI Jakarta, Banten is ranked second worst in Indonesia with an air quality index of 99. Then, in third place is West Java with an air quality index of 79.

This means that DKI Jakarta has unhealthy air quality.
