Twitter Research: Indonesia Ranked 15th Among the World's Top Tourist Destinations

Indonesia ranked 15th in the *Top Destinations Visited Amongst Global Twitter Travellers*. According to 2019 Twitter research, 19% of surveyed international tourists (inbound tourists) who use Twitter had visited Indonesia. Meanwhile, among Southeast Asian countries visited by Twitter-using international tourists, Thailand ranked 4th (30%) and Malaysia ranked 12th (23%).

Indonesia boasts many attractive destinations for international tourists, such as beautiful rural landscapes, unique cultural heritage, historical sites, beaches, and vibrant nightlife (Jakarta and Bali), among many others. Indonesian beaches were visited by Twitter-using tourists from Singapore (60%), Malaysia (51%), and Australia (21%).

Based on these findings, there is significant potential for Indonesia to attract more international tourists from Western regions, such as the UK, the United States (US), and Europe. A significant percentage of inbound tourists from these regions expressed interest in visiting Indonesia in the future: 19% from the UK, 18% from Europe, and 14% from the US.
