The Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI) survey results recorded that 18.5% of infants aged 0-59 months (toddlers) in Lampung experienced stunting in 2021.
Tanggamus Regency was recorded as the district/city with the highest prevalence of stunted toddlers in Lampung Province, namely 25%. Thus, 1 in 4 toddlers in this regency has a height below the standard for their age.
The next areas with the highest prevalence of stunted toddlers were Pesisir Barat Regency (22.8%), Lampung Barat Regency (22.7%), and Tulang Bawang Barat Regency (22.1%).
Meanwhile, Tulangbawang Regency was recorded as the area with the lowest prevalence of stunted toddlers, at only 9.5%. Following this were Lampung Timur Regency (15.3%), and Lampung Selatan Regency (16.3%).
To reduce the stunting rate, improvements in individual and community nutrition are needed through the implementation of balanced nutrition. Every family must be able to identify, prevent, and address nutritional problems for each family member.
Several steps to address nutritional problems include regular weighing, providing exclusive breastfeeding from birth to 6 months of age, and eating a varied diet.
