The number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has continued to rise since the emergence of the Omicron variant. According to a report from the Covid-19 Task Force, the number has now reached 539,214 active cases as of March 1, 2022.
West Java recorded the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, reaching 182,206 cases. This is equivalent to 33.79% of the total national active cases.
Central Java is ranked second as the province with the most active Covid-19 cases, with 44,908 cases. Next, DKI Jakarta and Banten each have 38,084 and 33,347 active Covid-19 cases, respectively.
Furthermore, Yogyakarta and East Java have 29,009 and 26,082 active Covid-19 cases, respectively.
North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Lampung are also among the provinces with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, with 21,986, 18,844, 18,500, and 13,637 cases respectively.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 5,589,176 cases as of March 1, 2022. 2.65% of these cases resulted in death, and 87.69% have recovered.
Indonesia is currently facing a third wave of Covid-19. Therefore, the public is urged to remain vigilant and implement health protocols by wearing masks, maintaining distance, washing hands with soap, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
