The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.15 million cases by Saturday, March 12, 2022. The United Kingdom recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 8.21 percent. GISAID recorded 761,230 Omicron cases in the UK. Daily cases in this region increased by 5.21 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is the United States, which recorded 10.35 percent more Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily Omicron cases in the US increased by 4.22 percent compared to the previous day.
Denmark reported 127,530 Omicron cases (a 14.11% increase), Germany saw a 34.64 percent increase to 109,730 cases compared to the previous week, and France saw an 11.48 percent increase to 58,424 cases compared to the previous week.
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 7,839, a 2.89 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
