Active COVID-19 Cases Rise in Three Kalimantan Provinces Over the Past Week

Active Covid-19 cases in three provinces of Kalimantan have increased over the past week. These three provinces are South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan.

Specifically, the highest increase in active Covid-19 cases was in South Kalimantan, rising by 63.2% from 4,525 cases on July 22, 2021, to 7,387 cases on July 29, 2021. The increase in active Covid-19 cases in North Kalimantan was recorded at 45.2%, rising from 3,489 to 5,068 cases.

Meanwhile, East Kalimantan recorded a 23.4% increase in active Covid-19 cases, from 17,830 to 22,014 cases. The number of active Covid-19 cases in this province is the highest on Borneo Island.

Conversely, active Covid-19 cases in Central Kalimantan and West Kalimantan decreased. Central Kalimantan recorded a 7.4% decrease in active Covid-19 cases, from 7,788 to 7,211 cases.

West Kalimantan recorded a 2.8% decrease in active Covid-19 cases, falling from 4,954 to 4,811 cases.

To curb the spread of the coronavirus, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
