Tourist visits to popular tourist attractions in DKI Jakarta plummeted sharply due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. A number of social restriction policies and the closure of tourist attractions to curb the spread of the coronavirus were contributing factors to this decline in tourist visits.
Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Tourism Agency published by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), only 4.79 million tourists visited popular tourist attractions in Jakarta in 2020. This figure plunged 85.47% compared to 2019, which saw 32.98 million visitors.
Ancol Dreamland was the most visited tourist attraction in the capital city last year, with 2.35 million visitors. 1.12 million people visited the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and 633,960 people visited Ragunan Zoo.
The National Monument (Monas) recorded only 443,030 visitors last year. This figure plummeted 96% compared to 2019, which saw 12.1 million visitors.
