A report from Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that there were 1.18 million visits from international tourists (wisman) from G20 countries in 2020. Australia had the highest number of tourist visits to Indonesia among other G20 countries last year, totaling 256,291 visits.
The highest number of Australian tourist visits was recorded in January 2021, reaching 119,242 visits. However, the number tended to decrease until mid-year, reaching its lowest point in May 2020 with only 102 visits.
China ranked second with the highest number of tourist visits to Indonesia among G20 countries last year, totaling 239,768 visits. India followed in third place with 111,724 tourist visits.
Japan and the United States followed with 92,228 and 91,782 tourist visits to Indonesia, respectively. South Korea and the United Kingdom each had 75,562 and 69,997 visits, respectively.
Meanwhile, the lowest number of tourist visits to Indonesia among G20 countries in 2020 came from Mexico. Only 2,375 tourist visits from Mexico were recorded last year.
The G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum consisting of 19 countries and the European Union. Indonesia will hold the presidency and host the G20 meetings in 2022.
