The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 142 districts/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 0.61 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Friday, January 6, 2023).
The top five districts/cities with the highest confirmed positive cases, exceeding 6.93 per 100,000 population/week, are Central Jakarta, Sorong City, South Jakarta, South Tangerang City, and West Jakarta City, with respective values of 10.5 per 100,000 population/week, 10.18 per 100,000 population/week, 9.6 per 100,000 population/week, 7.46 per 100,000 population/week, and 6.93 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
A national COVID-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows that confirmed positive cases in most districts/cities outside Java have decreased. A daily increase in confirmed positive cases compared to the previous day was recorded in 36 districts/cities, while 51 districts/cities recorded a lower number of confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive case rates include Sorong City, Teluk Wondama, and Belu, with confirmed positive cases of 10.18 per 100,000 population/week, 5.61 per 100,000 population/week, and 5.15 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
