The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 3.21 million cases by Tuesday, April 26, 2022. American Samoa recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 65 percent. GISAID recorded 33 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 50 percent compared to the previous day.
Following American Samoa is Montserrat, with weekly Omicron case growth reaching 50 percent. Three new Omicron cases were reported in this country. Daily statistics show a 50 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded two cases.
Next, Omicron cases in Montenegro increased by 40 percent to 154 cases compared to the previous week, Malaysia saw an increase of 6,138 Omicron cases (up 36.89%), and Guam saw an increase of 220 Omicron cases (up 30.95%).
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 10,675, a 1.45 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
