The Indonesian Ministry of Health's Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) recorded a stunting prevalence of 34.6% in Papua Province in 2022, the third highest nationally.
The prevalence of stunting in Papua in 2022 increased by 5.1 percentage points from the previous year. In 2021, the prevalence of stunting in the province was 29.5%.
Papua has 16 districts/cities with a stunting prevalence above the provincial average, while 13 other districts/cities are below the average.
Asmat Regency had the highest prevalence of stunting in Papua in 2022, reaching 54.5%. This figure jumped 16.4 percentage points from the previous year's 38.1%.
Next is Yahukimo Regency with a stunting prevalence of 53.3%, followed by Nduga Regency in third place at 50.2%.
Deiyai Regency had the lowest prevalence of stunting in Papua, at 13.4%, followed by Nabire Regency at 17.1%.
