Many people want Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to continue his political career after his term as President of Indonesia ends on October 20, 2024.
This is evident in the October 2023 edition of the *Survey of Perceptions on the Current Political Conditions* report from the Katadata Insight Center (KIC).
According to the KIC survey, 28.7% of respondents believe Jokowi would ideally become the Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) after his presidency.
Furthermore, 20.7% stated that Jokowi should join the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) for the next leadership period.
However, 18.2% of respondents believe the former furniture businessman should return to the business world, and 13.4% believe Jokowi should not continue his political career.
Other respondents suggested career options such as leading the PDIP, becoming the chairperson of a political party, or establishing and leading a new political party, with proportions as shown in the graph.
Regardless of public opinion, Jokowi has stated his intention to return to his hometown in Solo, Central Java, after leaving office.
"I want to retire and go back to Solo," Jokowi said at Monas Field, Central Jakarta, as reported by *CNN Indonesia* on Thursday (5/10/2023).
Regarding the issue of the PDIP Chairperson, Jokowi believes there are many young figures who could fill the position, such as Puan Maharani and Muhammad Prananda Prabowo.
"There are many young people, Mbak Puan, Mas Prananda," he said.
The KIC survey involved 1,178 respondents across Indonesia, with 53.8% female respondents and 46.2% male respondents.
More than half of the respondents were from Java (77%), followed by Sumatra (11.6%) and Sulawesi (4.2%). The proportion of respondents from Kalimantan, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.9% to 6.6%.
Most respondents were from the 25-34 age group (55.3%), followed by the 35-44 age group (24.7%) and the 45-54 age group (7.9%).
Data collection was conducted online on October 10-11, 2023, and respondents were asked to fill out the form independently.
