The Indonesian government reported 171 Covid-19 deaths on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, exceeding the 166 reported the previous day. This brings the total Covid-19 death toll during the pandemic to 140,630. East Java again recorded the highest number of deaths today, with 25 fatalities.
Following East Java, the provinces with the next highest number of Covid-19 deaths were Central Java (23), Aceh (16), Lampung (13), North Kalimantan (13), Bali (12), and West Java (9). Sumatera Utara, Riau, and Yogyakarta each reported 7 deaths.
These 10 provinces accounted for 132 deaths (77.2%) of the total reported deaths. Thirty-nine deaths were reported from 16 other provinces, while 8 provinces reported no deaths.
The government also reported 3,263 new Covid-19 cases today. East Java reported the highest number of new cases, with 316, followed by North Sumatra with 315. The cumulative number of Covid-19 infections throughout the pandemic is 4.2 million.
Meanwhile, 6,581 people recovered from Covid-19 today. North Sumatra and Aceh reported the highest number of recoveries, with 557 each. The cumulative number of recoveries throughout the pandemic is 4 million.
