The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded a national average COVID-19 bed occupancy rate (BOR) of 24% as of Tuesday, February 8, 2022. This figure is up 5 percentage points compared to the previous week's 19%.
The BOR of COVID-19 referral hospitals in Bali increased to 48% due to the continued spread of the Omicron variant. This percentage is the highest in the country.
Although quite high, the BOR of COVID-19 hospitals in Bali is still below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 60%.
After Bali, DKI Jakarta has the second highest BOR for COVID-19 hospitals at 47%. Banten follows with a 41% BOR. Next are West Java and Yogyakarta with 33% and 20% respectively.
The increase in the national hospital BOR coincides with the rising trend of Omicron variant coronavirus infections. According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, active coronavirus cases in Indonesia were recorded at 46,843 on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
Therefore, the public is still urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. These health protocols are important to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus.
