Kendal's Vegetable and Fruit Production Reached 276,600 Quintals in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the production of seasonal vegetables and fruits in Kendal Regency reached 276,600 quintals in 2020. Shallots were the most produced commodity in this regency, amounting to 177,400 quintals.

This is due to many sub-districts in Kendal being shallots production centers. More than a quarter of the total shallot production in Kendal, or 48,900 quintals, originated from Gemuh Sub-district, which has a harvested area of 385 hectares.

Following shallots, large chilies ranked second with a production of 24,200 quintals. Sukorejo Sub-district is the center of large chili production, with a production of 16,600 quintals and a harvested area of 258 hectares.

In third place is cayenne pepper, with a production of 23,800 quintals. The largest cayenne pepper producing area in Kendal Regency is located in Patebon Sub-district, namely 12,300 quintals with a harvested area of 186 hectares.

Besides vegetables and fruits, the potential of ornamental plants in Kendal Regency is quite promising. The largest production of ornamental plants is aglonema, reaching 1,090 stems in 2020.
