June 2019, Rice Prices Increased by up to 0.65% from the Previous Month

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an increase in the average price of rice at the milling level compared to the previous period, for low, medium, and premium quality rice. The increase across all three rice qualities ranged from 0.26 percent to 0.65 percent.

The largest increase occurred in the price of low-quality rice, at 0.65 percent. In May 2019, the price of low-quality rice was Rp 8,953 per kg; in June 2019, it increased by Rp 53 to Rp 9,012 per kg. The next largest increase was seen in premium-quality rice, which rose to Rp 9,516 per kg, a 0.56 percent increase compared to May 2019's price of Rp 9,462 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of medium-quality rice only increased by 0.26 percent to Rp 9,166 per kg in June 2019 from Rp 9,143 per kg previously.

Furthermore, compared to the same period last year, rice prices also increased. Low-quality rice saw the highest increase at 0.79 percent. This was followed by premium-quality rice at 0.4 percent and medium-quality rice at 0.34 percent.
