According to a survey by TGM Research, Indonesian Muslim spending on food and charity during Ramadan will increase compared to other months.

A recorded 46% of respondents plan to spend more on food and beverages during Ramadan this year than usual. Conversely, 42% of respondents said their spending would remain the same, followed by 12% who said they would spend less.

Furthermore, 49% of respondents plan to spend more on charity/alms during this Ramadan, while 44% said it would remain the same, and 6% said they would spend less.

Meanwhile, the survey shows that the majority, or 50%, of respondents said their transportation spending for visiting friends and family remained unchanged during Ramadan this year compared to other months. However, respondents who said their spending was higher and lower had an equal proportion, at 25% each.

TGM Research conducted an online survey of 750 Indonesian Muslim respondents aged 18 to 40 and above. The survey was conducted from February 1-22, 2024, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method.
