Finally, corn consumption was only 0.15 kilograms per person per month, down from 0.22 kilograms in 2021.

CIPS researchers view these findings as concerning, as high-calorie foods like white rice as the main carbohydrate source can lead to diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

BPS data from 2021 indicates that Indonesia has the fifth-highest proportion of its population with diabetes. The International Diabetes Federation in 2022 estimated 19.46 million people with diabetes in Indonesia in 2021, a 167% increase compared to 2011 (7.29 million people).

"The number of diabetes sufferers is projected to increase by 19.84% in 2030, reaching a total of 23.33 million," CIPS wrote in its report.

This research, published in January 2023 under the title *Policy Paper No. 54: Policy Barriers to a Healthier Diet, The Case of Trade and Agriculture*, aims to analyze Indonesian trade and agricultural policies and their barriers to achieving a healthy diet lifestyle.
