According to a recent Populix survey, the majority, or 72%, of Indonesian Muslims choose their iftar location based on the menu and taste of the food and drinks offered.

Next, 61% of respondents said they considered the price at their iftar gathering location. Then, 44% of respondents considered the location's proximity to their homes.

Furthermore, 41% of respondents considered iftar locations offering Ramadan promotions.

Then, 33% of respondents also considered iftar locations that were not in busy areas, followed by 17% who wanted a location near their office.

On the other hand, 16% of respondents chose their iftar location because of a new or trending restaurant.

The Populix survey also shows that the majority, or 54%, of respondents want to break their fast with their immediate family, followed by close friends (53%), extended family (52%), old friends (47%), partners (43%), colleagues (28%), and business partners (13%).

This online survey was conducted from January 15-24, 2024, involving 987 Muslim respondents who planned to have iftar gatherings out of a total of 1,165 respondents. The majority of respondents were from Java (80%), followed by Sumatra (13%), and other islands (8%).

Respondents were predominantly young people aged 17-25 years (44%) and 26-35 years (38%). Based on their occupation, most respondents were employees (55%), followed by students (16%) and entrepreneurs (15%).
