Many Illegal Drug and Food Products Circulate in Indonesian Marketplaces

The cyber patrol of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) found 154,562 sales links for illegal drugs and food circulating on Indonesian marketplaces from January to September 2025.

The most frequently found illegal products were from the cosmetics category, with 57,858 sales links, or 37% of BPOM's total findings.

Here is a list of categories of illegal drug and food products frequently found on Indonesian marketplaces during the January-September 2025 period:

• Cosmetics: 57,858 sales links
• Drugs: 28,847 sales links
• Processed food: 26,090 sales links
• Herbal medicine: 21,091 sales links
• Health supplements: 12,905 sales links
• Quasi-drugs: 7,771 sales links

Jakarta became the province with the highest number of illegal drug and food findings nationally, reaching 59,839 sales links.

This was followed by West Java with 27,353 sales links, East Java with 13,480 links, Banten with 12,024 links, and Central Java with 8,776 links.

"For those of you who know of links selling illegal or dangerous drug and food products, don't forget to report them to Halo BPOM at 1500533 or use the public complaint feature in BPOM Mobile," BPOM wrote on its official Instagram account, Thursday (October 30, 2025).
