Referring to data from the Indonesian National Library, the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is used for various types of media. In other words, ISBNs are not only used for print books.
However, ISBNs for book publications still dominate, reaching 89,554 ISBNs in 2024. The next highest number is for PDF publications, reaching 41,015 ISBNs.
Next, 802 ISBNs were used for electronic publications (epub). This is followed by 183 ISBNs for audiobooks.
ISBNs are also used for publications with audiovisual media. In this category, only 10 ISBNs were used.
In total last year, 118,157 ISBNs were registered.
The latest data from the Indonesian National Library, up to May 21, 2025, shows that 19 ISBNs have been used for audiobooks, 21 for audiovisual media, 495 for epubs, 14,935 for PDFs, and 38,511 for books. The provisional total for 2025 is 43,072 ISBNs.
