Global Consumers' Most Trusted Nutritionists Recommend Snacks

Global consumers trust nutritionists most to recommend snacks. This was revealed in the 2024 State of Snacking survey from The Harris Poll-Mondelez International.

The survey showed that trust in nutritionists reached 80%. Celebrity chefs were also among those trusted by consumers for snack recommendations, with a percentage of 69%.

62% of respondents trusted professional athletes to recommend snacks. Meanwhile, 59% trusted fitness influencers and 54% trusted actors or musicians.

On the other hand, when asked the statement "I often ask celebrities or influencers for snack recommendations," 48% of respondents agreed.

Mondelez International stated that snacking remains a cost-effective way for consumers to gain a little satisfaction in their daily lives. In fact, 80% of respondents agreed they choose snacks to reward themselves.

"People see snacking as a deserved treat and a way to unwind after a long day," said Melissa Davies, Senior Manager, Global Insights & Trendspotting at Mondelez International, in a press release on Wednesday (April 9th).

The 2024 State of Snacking survey was conducted online from October 10-22, 2024. The survey involved 3,785 respondents aged 18 and over.

The research covered markets in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, India, Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Respondents were spread across various generations: Gen Z (18-27 years old), Millennials (28-43 years old), Gen X (43-59 years old), Boomers (60-78 years old), and the Silent Generation (79-96 years old).
