President Prabowo appointed retired Lieutenant General TNI Nugroho Sulistyo Budi as the Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), replacing Hinsa Siburian on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
The appointment of the new BSSN Head is stipulated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 29 P Year 2025 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Head of BSSN.
"I will uphold the law to the fullest extent in the service of my duty to the nation and state," said Nugroho while reciting the oath of office, as reported by *Katadata*, Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Nugroho is a 1991 graduate of the Military Academy and formerly served in the Army's elite special forces, the Kopassus (Korps Pasukan Khusus). During his time in the unit, he was part of Group IV, the Mawar Team, known for its involvement in the abduction of pro-democracy activists.
Prior to his appointment as Head of BSSN, Nugroho served as the Expert Staff to the Minister of Defense for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Defense from 2020 to 2024.
According to the KPK's State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN), Nugroho has assets worth Rp7.55 billion at the end of 2023.
The majority of his assets consist of land and buildings valued at Rp6.04 billion. This comprises 5 plots of land and buildings located in Semarang, Sleman, and Bogor.
He is also reported to possess cash and cash equivalents worth Rp739.28 million, other assets worth Rp475 million, other movable assets worth Rp153 million, and transportation assets worth Rp140 million.
His transportation assets include one 2012 Toyota Corolla and one 2015 Honda Verza motorcycle.
