According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) report, more than 90% of Indonesia's population is covered by the National Health Insurance (JKN). However, per capita monthly out-of-pocket (OOP) health expenditure still reaches 61.80% of total health expenditure in 2023.

Additionally, 1.65% of the population spent personal funds on treatment at community health centers (puskesmas), village health posts (pustu), village health posts (poskesdes), integrated health posts (polindes), or posyandu (integrated service posts for early childhood care), and 4.90% on preventive care or other services.
