According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), global tablet shipments reached 30.8 million units in Q1 2024. This represents a slight 0.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

Samsung ranked second, distributing 6.7 million tablets in Q1 2024. Shipments decreased by 5.8% YoY, attributed to aggressive promotions by competitors in Europe and Asia Pacific. IDC also cited a lack of new products as a hindrance to Samsung's growth.

Huawei came in third, with tablet shipments surging 43.6% YoY to 2.9 million units in the first quarter of this year.

Lenovo secured fourth place, shipping 2.1 million tablets, a 13.2% YoY increase. This rise was driven by shipments of the P-series tablets.

Finally, Xiaomi shipped 1.8 million tablets globally in Q1 2024. The Chinese manufacturer recorded the highest growth in shipments, reaching 92.6% YoY.

IDC Senior Research Analyst Anuroopa Nataraj stated that the global tablet market is showing signs of recovery in the first quarter of this year.

“Further gains will come from upcoming new releases, followed by growth in the commercial segment as more tablets are used in education and the gig economy,” Anuroopa said in a statement on Friday, May 3, 2024.
