The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's rice imports at 356,280 tons in 2020. This figure is down 19.84% compared to the previous year's 444,500 tons.
Indonesia's rice import volume has shown a fluctuating trend since 2016. At that time, the volume of rice imports was 1.28 million tons. In 2017, the volume of rice imports plummeted by 76.2% to 305,270 tons.
Then, the volume of rice imports soared by 638.3% to 2.25 million tons in 2018. After that, the volume of rice imports decreased again by 80.27% in 2019.
Pakistan was the largest rice exporter to Indonesia in 2020, with a volume of 110,500 tons. This amount is equivalent to 31% of the total volume of rice imports to Indonesia.
Vietnam was in second place with rice imports of 88,700 tons (24.9%). Following this was Thailand with rice imports of 88,600 tons (24.96%).
Rice imports from Myanmar and India were 57,800 tons (16.23%) and 10,600 tons (2.97%), respectively. From China, Indonesia imported 23,800 tons (0.006%) of rice.
