Indonesia's Per Capita Electricity Consumption Reached 1,109 kWh in the Third Quarter of 2021

Indonesia's electricity consumption reached 1,109 kilowatt hours (kWh) per capita in the third quarter of 2021. According to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), this figure is equivalent to 92.2% of the 2021 target of 1,203 kWh per capita.

Since 2015, Indonesia's per capita electricity consumption has shown an upward trend. The highest increase occurred in 2017 at 6.8%, while the lowest increase was in 2020 at 0.4%.

According to the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of ESDM, the government has implemented several strategies to create new demand by encouraging the use of electric vehicles and electric stoves.

The construction of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) is one of the government's efforts to attract public interest in using electric vehicles. The number of SPKLUs has reached 187 units spread across 155 locations throughout Indonesia.

In terms of the number of customers, the Ministry of ESDM recorded that the number of electricity customers as of September 2021 exceeded the target, reaching 81,229,000 customers. This figure is equivalent to 102.6% of the 2021 target of 79,187,000 customers.
