Beef Prices in Aceh Reach a High of Rp140,650 per Kilogram

Beef prices in various Indonesian provinces have tended to increase in recent weeks.

Based on a report from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center, traditional markets in Aceh recorded the highest beef price, namely Rp140,650 per kilogram (kg) on Friday, March 4, 2022.

DKI Jakarta has the next highest beef price, reaching Rp140,000 per kg. This is followed by West Sumatra and Banten, with prices of Rp139,400 per kg and Rp138,350 per kg respectively.

Then, the price of beef in West Kalimantan reached Rp135,850 per kg, South Kalimantan Rp135,650 per kg, and West Java Rp135,350 per kg.

Meanwhile, in West Papua, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan, beef prices were Rp135,000 per kg, Rp133,750 per kg, and Rp132,900 per kg respectively.

The national average beef price reached Rp126,900 per kg on March 4, 2022, with the lowest price in East Nusa Tenggara at Rp106,650 per kg.

Asnawi, Chairman of the Indonesian Meat Slaughterhouse and Trader Network (Jappdi), said that this increase occurred due to high beef prices in Australia and a shortage of supply from that country.

According to him, domestic beef prices have increased by around 7% to 20% since December 2021.
