The United States, Indonesia's Largest Export Destination for Wood Carving Crafts

Indonesia is renowned for its diverse arts and crafts, including wood carvings. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) notes that the United States is the largest export destination for Indonesian wood carvings.

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the volume of Indonesian wood carving exports reached 27.38 million kilograms (kg) from January to November 2021. This represents a 5.67% increase compared to the same period the previous year, which totaled 25.91 million kg.

Meanwhile, the value of wood carving exports from January to November 2021 was recorded at US$100.1 million. This is a 17.17% increase compared to the same period the previous year, which amounted to US$85.43 million. European countries are the largest market for Indonesian wood carving exports.

The United States holds the top spot as the largest export destination for Indonesian wood carvings, reaching 12.6 million kg (US$48.8 million). The Netherlands is next, with an export volume of 2.26 million kg (US$5.37 million). Exports of wood carvings to Japan totaled 1.86 million kg (US$9.5 million).

Wood carving exports to South Korea amounted to 1.43 million kg (US$2.8 million). Exports to Australia and France were 1.28 million kg (US$4.38 million) and 1.06 million kg (US$3.6 million), respectively.
