According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), national rice production reached 54.78 million tons of dry milled rice (GKG) in 2022. This figure only increased slightly by 0.6% compared to the previous year (year-on-year/yoy).
In 2022, East Java was the largest rice producer, with production reaching 9.52 million tons of GKG or 17.39% of total national rice production.
West Java ranked second, producing 9.43 million tons of GKG, followed by Central Java with 9.35 million tons of GKG.
Other provinces classified as the largest national rice producers are South Sulawesi, South Sumatra, Lampung, North Sumatra, Banten, Aceh, and West Nusa Tenggara, as shown in the graph.
On the other hand, Riau Islands recorded the lowest rice production last year, at only 506.91 tons, followed by DKI Jakarta, West Papua, and North Maluku.
