The Indonesian government has declared that Eid al-Adha 1444 H will fall on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
According to the official Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) website, during Eid al-Adha, Muslims are encouraged to perform the act of *qurban*, which involves sacrificing livestock as an act of worship.
"In the vertical dimension, *qurban* is a form of worship to draw closer to Allah and gain His acceptance," said K.H. Zakky Mubarak, *Rais Syuriyah* of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board, on the organization's official website.
"Meanwhile, in the social dimension, *qurban* aims to bring joy to the poor on Eid al-Adha. Therefore, the sacrificial meat should be given to those in need, with a small portion allowed to be kept for the family performing the sacrifice, while prioritizing the poor and needy," he continued.
The current price of sacrificial animals ranges from Rp2.6 million to Rp20 million per animal. Prices may vary depending on the type and weight of the animal and the seller's terms.
The following are the prices of sacrificial cattle and goats in the 2023 National Zakat Amil Agency (Baznas) catalog:
* Cattle: Rp20.3 million per head (250-300 kg)
