Indonesia actively trades with Israel. While not a primary trading partner, Indonesia regularly exports various commodities to the country, with a cumulative value exceeding USD 100 million annually.
In 2022, Indonesia's total exports to Israel reached USD 185.6 million, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of approximately 14%.
According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the main export commodity to Israel in 2022 was palm oil, valued at approximately USD 31.9 million.
Indonesia also exports a significant amount of athletic footwear to Israel, along with edible oils and fats, man-made staple fibers, basic organic chemicals of agricultural origin, ready-made garments, and other goods, as shown in the graph.
Despite active trade, Indonesia refuses to establish diplomatic relations with Israel. This stance is enshrined in Chapter X of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Regulation Number 3 of 2019, which states:
"To date, Indonesia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel and opposes Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory and people; therefore, Indonesia rejects all forms of official relations with Israel."
The regulation stipulates that the Indonesian government must observe several procedures when interacting with Israel, namely:
* No official relations at any level between the Indonesian government and Israel, including correspondence using official letterheads;
* No official reception of Israeli delegations at official venues;
* No display/use of the Israeli flag, emblem, and other attributes, nor the playing of the Israeli national anthem within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia;
* The presence of Israelis does not imply political recognition of Israel;
* Visits by Israeli citizens to Indonesia can only be made using ordinary passports; and
* Visa issuance authorization for Israeli citizens is handled by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, specifically the Directorate General of Immigration. Visas are issued in the form of an affidavit through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore or the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok.
