As the Covid-19 pandemic situation subsides, internet usage intensity in Indonesia tends to decrease.
This is evident from a survey report, a collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), titled *Status Literasi Digital di Indonesia 2022* (Digital Literacy Status in Indonesia 2022).
At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, the proportion of respondents accessing the internet between 7:01 AM and 10:00 AM reached 54%. However, this proportion dropped to 51% in 2021 and further decreased to 38% in 2022.
A downward trend also occurred during most other times, especially after 7:00 AM, as shown in the graph above.
"The decrease in internet usage intensity this year (2022) is in line with the recovery of most community activities following the easing of community activity restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic," said the Kemenkominfo and KIC team in their report.
The report also shows that in 2022, the majority of respondents (85%) accessed the internet through mobile phone data, allowing them to access the internet anywhere.
Some respondents also accessed the internet through wireless networks or Wi-Fi at home (26%), Wi-Fi at coffee shops/cafes (7%), Wi-Fi at the workplace (7%), Wi-Fi at school/campus (4%), internet cafes (1%), and others (3%).
Kemenkominfo and KIC conducted this survey on 10,000 internet users aged 13-70 years, spread across 34 provinces and 514 regencies/cities in Indonesia.
The survey was conducted from August to September 2022 through face-to-face interviews. Sampling was done using a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 0.98% and a 95% confidence interval.
Respondents had diverse backgrounds, including housewives, entrepreneurs, workers, students, farmers, and others. The complete report can be downloaded at *https://survei.literasidigital.id/*.
