Banten, the Province with the Highest Production of Cut Orchids

Orchids are one of the many ornamental plants grown in Indonesia. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), production volume reached 2.52 million stems in 2023.

However, this figure plummeted by 63% compared to 2022 production, which reached 6.79 million stems.

In 2023, Banten became the province with the highest cut orchid production, namely 1.2 million stems or 47.8% of total national production.

It was followed by West Java and East Java, which produced 383,000 and 362,000 stems respectively.

Here is a complete list of the top 10 provinces producing the most cut orchids in Indonesia in 2023:

2. West Java: 383,441 stems
3. East Java: 362,478 stems
4. West Kalimantan: 324,670 stems
5. Bali: 91,758 stems
6. North Kalimantan: 38,321 stems
7. Central Java: 28,623 stems
8. North Sumatra: 25,151 stems
9. East Kalimantan: 16,430 stems
10. South Sulawesi: 9,272 stems

BPS also recorded that the value of Indonesian orchid exports in 2023 reached US$47,190 tons, down 37.4% from the previous year.

The main destination countries were South Korea with exports valued at US$25,500 (5.10 tons), and Singapore at US$21,690 (2.16 tons).
