According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's rice production volume reached 53.98 million tons of milled rice (GKG) in 2023, down 1.4% compared to 2022 (year-on-year/yoy).
East Java was the largest rice-producing province in 2023, with a production volume of 9.71 million tons of GKG, or 17.99% of the total national rice production.
The next largest rice-producing provinces were West Java and Central Java, with rice production of 9.14 million tons GKG and 9.08 million tons GKG, respectively.
Meanwhile, the lowest rice production was in Papua Pegunungan with only 62 tons of GKG, followed by the Riau Islands and Southwest Papua with production of 324 tons GKG and 2,390 tons GKG, respectively.
